RECORDINGS OF JEROME HINES

I have the most complete collection of Jerome Hines recordings anywhere in the world and I am still adding, mp3s of almost every recording ever made of Mr. Hines, including historic broadcasts.  Many of these recordings are extremely rare, and all have been restored from their original media to mp3 format, often with better sound quality than was on the original.

Eulogy

JEROME HINES died today, Feb. 4, 2003,  at 3:00PM in New York at the age of 81. He was able to sing beautifully until he died. You all know the influence Jerry had on my life. He was my mentor and friend, supporter and fan. He was also one of the greatest basses of all time. It seems as if an era has closed with the passing of this great one. Yet nothing has closed for Jerry whose life was dedicated to Jesus the Christ. He stepped out of this world and found himself in a beautiful, beautiful land, met by his beloved Lucia. Those of us who know Jesus, know this very well. Jerry is walking on streets paved with gold and singing more gloriously than he ever sang here. Jerry is happy even while we are sad to see him leave us. I found out the news of his passing because people were emailing me about going to my web site to listen to him sing. How I loved Jerry. How he loved Jesus. I knew him in the prime of his career and vocal powers and I watched him continue to sing through the years until just a short while ago. For Christmas he sang at a church or Salvation Army gathering, and people said that this gentleman stood up to walk to the podium looking physically worn out like father time himself, almost as if a stiff breeze would blow him down. THEN he opened his mouth to sing and out came the same voice the world has loved as Jerome Hines. The story of Jerome Hines is the story of God's faithfulness and love. Oh how I love Jesus! And Oh, how Jesus loved my dear, dear friend, Jerome Hines.

There are not enough words to use to give thanks for the life of a giant like Jerome Hines. Thank you Jerry. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Thank you Jerry. You fought the good fight. You ran the race. You finished the course. But more than that, you were our friend. You have no need now for me to say "God bless you," for His blessing surrounds you now and is all and in all. But God bless US as we miss you down here. Oh, thank you Jerry. Thank You.

Thank you Jesus. (JOSEPH SHORE, Baritone, www.josephshore.com)
